Data model for lighting point analysis

In order to provide a harmonized framework for the study of light source data, we carry out our analyses based on the data model presented below: it defines the rules to be respected in the presentation of data, as well as the mandatory and optional infor-mation to be provided.

General rules

Data relating to the light points to be analyzed must be supplied in the form of a file complying with the following specifications:

  • File format: .csv with 20 fields, in which each line corresponds to a luminous point.

  • Character encoding: UTF-8

  • Field separators: comma

  • Decimal separator: dot

If required, you can download the sample file to be used, and complete it with your data.

List of fields

Mandatory fields are indicated by the label “MANDATORY".
Only the geographic coordinates of each light point are required: latitude and longitude expressed in degrees (EPSG: 4326).
Alternatively, French users can enter x and y coordinates expressed in meters, provid-ed they also supply the INSEE code of the commune to which each light point belongs. The x and y coordinates must be expressed in one of the following official reference systems:
–Metropolitan France: RGF93LAMB93 (EPSG: 9794 or 2154)
–Guadeloupe and Martinique: RGAF09UTM20 (EPSG: 5490 or 4559)
–French Guiana: RGFG95UTM22 (EPSG: 2972)
–Reunion Island: RGR92UTM40S (EPSG: 2975)
–Mayotte: RGM04UTM38S (EPSG: 4471)

The label “RECOMMENDED" indicates a field taken into account to produce a map of the contribution of light points to overall light pollution (e.g. for the "Study of the impact of a set of light points" service on the Light Pollution Platform). If some of this infor-mation is missing, the map of light points' contribution to overall light pollution is pro-duced by replacing the missing data with default values.

Nom de la colonne

Description

insee

INSEE code of the light point's commune (France only) - MANDATORY only if fields 'x' and 'y' are filled in.

Character string

commune

Name of the commune where the light point is located (France only)

Character string

siren

SIREN code of light point operator (France only)

Integral

reference

Light point reference (operator-specific identifier)

Character string

x

X coordinate of light point (France on-ly) - The 'insee' field must also be filled in.

Decimal

y

Y coordinate of light point (France on-ly) - The 'insee' field must also be filled in.

Decimal

latitude

Latitude of light point (EPSG: 4326) - MANDATORY unless fields 'insee', 'x' and 'y' are filled in.

Decimal

longitude

Longitude of light point (EPSG: 4326) - MANDATORY unless fields 'insee', 'x' and 'y' are filled in.

Integral

flux

Nominal operating luminous flux from the light source, expressed in lumens.

Integral

type_luminaire

Type of light associated with the light point (this may be a simple designa-tion such as "style lantern" or "ball lamp", the brand of equipment, etc.).

Character string

type_source

Type of source associated with the light point - RECOMMENDED

Valeur à choisir parmi 13 possibilités : voir ci-dessous la section « Types de source »

Integral

temperature_couleur

Light source color temperature, ex-pressed in Kelvin - RECOMMENDED

Integral

hauteur

Light point height above the earth's surface, in meters.

Decimal

profil_nocturne

Light point operating profile. This field is used to specify the light point's switch-on time in the evening and switch-off time in the morning.

plages_variation

Ranges of variation (either complete extinction or dimming) of the light point during its operating period.

eclairage_adaptatif

Indication that the light point is con-trolled by an adaptive mechanism.

tag

Optional tag associated with light points. A tag can be used to associate specific information with light points for filtering purposes, for example.
